Minttu Ryynänen

I’m Minttu -I’m a kind, demanding, and approachable coach who wants my goalkeepers to ask questions, challenge me, and challenge themselves. My goal is not only to develop better goalkeepers, but to support the person behind the mask throughout their journey towards the top.

My Philosophy

As a coach, I want my goalkeepers to feel comfortable asking questions and being
themselves.

I value goalkeepers who challenge me, and reflect critically on their own
performance and development. I want to support my players throughout their journey
towards the highest level, while understanding that development is about much more than
results and performances.

For me, it is equally important to see and support the person behind the mask and help them grow both as a goalkeeper and as a person.

I think that as a goalie you need to have a strong mentality and courage to be the best. For me the mental
side is equally important as the physical side.

My Career Path

2019-2021

Josba, Junior leagues

My goalkeeping journey began with Josba, playing in junior competitions and taking my first
steps as a goalkeeper.

After I stopped playing ice hockey as a goalkeeper I developed interest in floorball. I started my floorball journey 2019 in Joensuu steps as a goalkeeper.

2021-2023

Fb Factor

In 2021 I changed teams to play at a more competitive level. I wanted to continue developing through junior and lower-level women’s competitions, gaining valuable match experience and building a strong foundation as a goalkeeper. My role and experience grew as I competed in T16, T18 and women’s national competitions. And we won sm gold medal with the T16 team. These seasons gave me valuable experience of playing at a higher competitive level.

2024-2026

Fb Factor & Saipa/Factor

I took another major step forward during these years, competing in the Inssi-Divari and T21 SM-series as a goalkeeper. Playing at these levels challenged me to develop not only technically, but also mentally. I grew significantly as a person and as an athlete, and my passion and motivation for floorball — especially for being a goalkeeper — grew stronger than ever. During this period, I feel that I truly began to see my own potential and understand what I am capable of as a goalkeeper. That realization changed the way I approach the sport.
Alongside playing, I also gained valuable experience in coaching, working with U8 and U10 girls. Coaching younger players taught me how to communicate, take responsibility, and support the development of others while also deepening my own understanding of the game.

2026-

Northern Stars

In 2026, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life so far: I moved to Espoo to pursue my dreams and become the goalkeeper I want to be. Leaving everything familiar behind and moving into a completely new environment was a big step, but I knew I had to take it if I wanted to follow my passion and challenge myself to reach my full potential.

Joining Northern Stars gave me the opportunity to compete in the U21 Girls SM-series and F-liiga while surrounding myself with a more demanding and competitive environment. My goal is to develop more than I ever have before — technically, physically, and mentally —and to continuously push my limits as a goalkeeper.

At the same time, I want to give something back to the sport that has given me so much. Alongside playing, I want to coach young players, especially goalkeepers, and help them discover the same passion that I have found. I want to be someone who inspires them, supports their development, and maybe even becomes one of the reasons they fall in love with the game.
